  1. Two of my favourite memories that are only technically connected. I got to know a Dutch guy through ROSE who just happened to live in a city in NL where my class was taking a trip, since I was of age (18) I was allowed to do basically what I wanted while the other kids in my class were stuck with the teachers. So this guy and I, and a group of his friends ran around Groningen during koninginnedag 2010 and I had the time of my life. Great parties, great beer and great memories with him and his friend. I got to know another Dutch guy, who one day told me that his older brother was moving to Sweden (where I am), close to where I lived. He asked if I wanted to meet up with his brother and welcome him so he'd have someone he knew. Me and that brother ended up dating for two years and I got myself an extended family in NL that I regularly visited. As someone who loves the Dutch language, I've had the great pleasure of meeting a lot of Dutch people to practise the language with and in some cases date for two years
  2. This should be its own suggestion if it isn't already. Having dungeons and instances that scale respectively is a great way to let everyone enjoy Pvp/Dungeon/Etc, without forcing people to rush to max level. If there could be unique farming, even better. Single player and multiplayer scaled instances would be awesome - and could solve the farming thing.
  3. That's like saying that the existence of the raider class makes people dependent on it because a bit more dodge/speed is better than none, so everyone will need it. --- Limiting the cleric buffs within the scope of what they were before is much, much better than overhauling them completely and starting to remove / redistribute things. Classes are meant to have differences, people are meant to be able to choose a support class, a PvM/Farm class, a PvP class, etc. I do not for the life of me understand the argument and mindset that every player, regardless of their character choice, needs to be equally good at everything. I've not once come across an MMO, that uses classes, where every class is equally viable in all situations, MMOs that don't use classes but instead has character building is a completely different story. Having classes with clear and strong diversity encourages multiplayer and group settings, which seems to be the goal here. Ironically, I think the current proposed changes are going to have quite the opposite effect on the player base.
  4. There are definitely ways to greatly minimise bots. I've played several games, of various sorts (some ROSE clients included) where the game simply won't start if it detects some of the most common bot/macro software on your computer running at the same time. Game won't start, or will disconnect of these programmes are started. It minimises not only bots, but also people who play with PvP macros that are out of the scope of how the game should be played.
  5. Maybe you saw different people. Myself and the people I played with, and everyone I saw, would disagree with your assessment of the situation.
  6. A wiki would be great, but I'd rather see it hosted on the main page than have a fandom page (no matter how official it is). Having a wiki on the main page, like some other servers, makes it super easy to find and it increases the credibility of it when people find it. Could be something along the lines of wiki.roseonlinegame.com just like the forum is hosted on the main website.
  7. Skyrim character creation when? I spent hours on that character
  8. I've literally kept playing games I hated just to get all achievements, can't just drop it
  9. I think most people would give it a try, but I'd rather see them not changed if I would choose. I personally think that the arguments for changing it are nonsense and they make little sense. In a way they're based on an incorrect assumption to begin with (classes aren't balanced so we need to change them + limit dual clienting or no one will play our game and engage with others). Like I said, it's not going to stop me from at least trying to play, but it will definitely not be a change I want to see. Even if it's still playable, people who main cleric won't have near the good experiencec they had before. They claim this change will increase the chance of maining cleric and that it'll be better, but I doubt it. Maining cleric the way it was before took an immense focus and skill because it was a challenge, especially early at server release (like with all classes). Now that challenge is gone and it'll be the same as everything else. Instead of having different classes do different things, they're more bland, like a wet blanket on top the whole "balanced". Also, this turned into quite a rant. My vote is between "I will play regardless but don't change" and "I'll play but if it's dumb I'll play differently/quite". However quitting isn't an option for me so only for that will I go with first option.
  10. Other servers do it, so it's definitely not impossible. And who is this a problem for? All of the argument for why it could be an issue are basically nonsensical and debunked at this point. If someone chooses to play alone that's their choice, I'm pretty sure they won't be unhappy with it if they make it - and that's really all that matters. Choice.
  11. You'd notice that I did say that PvP areas were fine to limit or increase multiplayer needed in my previous post up there. I don't mind PvP/dungeons/instances being impossible to do alone, that makes sense. But some of the steps that are taken in development so far are also complicating the most basic things in the game, pvm and such. There is nothing wrong with wanting to encourage multiplayer, but I have never played another MMORPG that basically forces it. I played Guild Wars on my own, I played Runescape on my own. Playing an MMORPG solo actually takes time and skill and those games did/do well with their player base, it's not an issue at all. Regarding the "farming puts all things into one player" - sure, but I've never seen an MMORPG where that doesn't happen anyway. Max level characters frequently carry their low-level friends, giving them all the items so they don't have to struggle as much. The concept of 1 player = all drops, won't be negated by any system that's set in place so far. I'm well aware that ultimately it's not my decision, but I do know I'm not the only one with these opinions and thoughts so I might as well be the one to voice them.
  12. So how do you plan on treating the people who will be soft-locked out of the game because of this? I can think of a few groups. People with social anxiety (or other neurodiversities) who can't or don't want to engage with strangers on the internet but whose friends are not playing the game (and don't tell me they should just force their friends). People living in time zones where the game is much more dead and won't be able to find anyone to play even the most basic game with. There are many reasons one would want to play the game alone, and the argument that it gives some kind of advantage is ridiculous and makes no sense at all. I can ask 3 friends, or I can play 4 characters alone - neither is an advantage over others, except for in the player count - which definitely shouldn't be blindly measured, because you probably get 0 from this situation instead otherwise. Some things can greatly be handled by in-game solutions such as offline shops, leaving that client usable for other things. But there's no in-game solution for the acceptance that people are different, and "the experience" will be different for different people. You can't, or rather shouldn't, force people to engage with each other by making life miserable for those who don't want to or can't. That should come naturally from developing a good game. A game can have good and attractive multiplayer things, without taking a dump on solo players.
  13. Honestly, people seem to be mostly worried about dungeons/high level stuff, and that's easily fixed. The other server allows multiple clients overall, but will disconnect you if you bring more than one character into a PvP zone or a dungeon or any group setting in the game. I have no idea why people are so adamant that it's "part of the experience" to spend an hour looking for someone to play with if all I want to do is kill stone golems. Sounds like a pretty bad experience to me, tbh.

    Hi!

Yeah, haha, I threw my life in there too. Pre-donor from the very start, then hours and hours of gameplay during all my free time.

    Hi!

I've been on the scene since iROSE, but this name in particular would be from RuFF/titanROSE. I've also played under the names Jackie, Jackster, FightingSoldier, LezaMircea and my cleric called xMozzarella - among others! I've played so many different characters and classes
  16. Everywhere except PvP areas/maps sounds good.
  17. You created the Jabberwock? That's cool! Welcome
  18. In the crawfy picture the top bar is misaligned to the right and the picture below that is misaligned to the left by what appears to be one or two pixels. Rest of the pictures are good. Always nice to have a trip down memory lane. I'm bummed I didn't keep any screenshots at all over the years.
  19. Could be anything really, like a t-shirt that Honeybuns mentioned from titanROSE. Just some show-off item that isn't really worth anything other than showing off that you were there in the beginning. As long as it's wearable as a costume so I can run around killing bosses wearing a cool t-shirt I'm good
  20. We are expecting a closed beta sometime this summer, probably towards the end. After that it's really up to how testing goes, but I believe their hopes is to release towards the end of the year.
  21. Events in general, that aren't just quests/gather stuff, would be great to see. I know our clan used to host hide-and-seek events as well, was always appreciated.
  22. ETA is, as far as we know, closed beta sometime during this summer - possibly more towards the end of the summer. Everything else is quite up in the air, depending on how testing goes. EDIT: No dates have been set yet, these are goals rather than direct deadlines.
  23. I like the Runescape veteran capes, they're always obtainable and you get given one as soon as you reach a certain account age. When you hit 5 years you get it by talking to a dude and there's a world announcement. I like that it's not unique to those who started 20 years ago (the highest current veteran cape) but shows off every person's individual journey. Some kind of beta/early release item would be cool, but it would have to be a cosmetic and nothing too fancy in my opinion. The veteran capes, as they are in Runescape, are in my opinion enough to show-off that you started early, you'll have a 20-year cape 20 years from now and people will go woah, just like in Runescape
  24. Oh, I like threads like this! Always fun to see people's faces to connect to the players. My profile picture is already my face, but here's the original picture. Also @erko , you look extremely familiar. Can't tell if I've seen/met you before or if you just look like someone I know
