I refuse to play this game if i have to install this crap, not once, and you shouldn't play too. Or developers fix this or good bye, and no other game require such patch, this is the only game that require a spyware to play, laughtable. My os is windows 7, and no, i will never upgrade to the crap windows 10, this game was made to work under windows xp and should work even on this os without any patch. I'd imagine OP is using a fully patched version of Windows 7 with all the diagnostic/telemetry updates added in. So this doesn't seem like a likely solution to me. That update was also the cause for several bugs into the native libraries, many people suggested to remove this update around the web as a os breaker. The same mod claim that they are only supporting windows 10 while this game was originally created for windows XP (i played it at that time), just excuses because devs do not care to not fix compatibility issues with an os that is still supported (ms catalog) and is the second more installed in the whole world. This telemetry is developed by Microsoft same as Windows So if you consider it malware, then your windows 7 is also malware ?

Nope, because i refuse to install it since i know what updates are good and bad. And without this crap i can play every mmorpg in the market. This is hard to believe that a windows xp game need win 10 today to work properly. Edited December 17, 2022 by kd276

Fair enough. Hopefully we'll get a Linux version of Rose for the more privacy focused fans of this game. On a related note, I am a bit curious why you're not using Linux. I guess there is Windows 7 ESU to keep the OS up to date but getting that is a hassle.

Luckystriike
Should we rewrite the updater as an Electron web app? Would it make a difference? Is it solely the updater failing, or is it also the Rose client itself?

This very simple of fix they just need compile a launcher with old SDK compatible with Window XP and 7 SDK V143 is best option to.
HazDS
You really should not be running Windows XP and Windows 7 online anymore. 34 minutes ago, vergil250493 said: This very simple of fix they just need compile a launcher with old SDK compatible with Window XP and 7 SDK V143 is best option to.
