  2. Clan vs. Clan Retrospective The ROSE Online Summer 2023 Clan vs. Clan was the first organized event for our team and it was a great success! We streamed the event over two weekends and it was a lot of fun to see all the clans and interactions with the community. It was also fun to see what strategies and tactics players used and gave us a lot of insight into the current PvP meta in the game. However, we want to take a moment to reflect on the event to see what went well and what we can do better for next time. Many of the thoughts written down here are based on feedback we directly received from players in real-time. What went well Participation: We were excited to see a large number of clans sign up for the event! In fact, more clans signed up than we had expected and ultimately we had only 1 clan no-show. A big thank you to all the clans who made this event a success! Stream: Luckily we were able to stream all the events, which helped with engagement and made the event more fun! The streams were quite interactive and we had lots of great conversations during the event. It was fun to connect with players in real time. Long live the Datu Tree . Second weekend schedule: For the second weekend, we were a lot more organized and the schedule proceeded very smoothly. A big shout out to the team members working hard in the background teleporting clans and coordinating resets and substitutions. Providing a schedule was also helpful for the participants to make accommodations. Format: The 8v8 format seemed to be a good format and the time limit made the battles just long enough to be interesting without being too long. Additionally, requiring different classes to participate made for some interesting fights and line-ups and we saw teams adapting in real time! I think we can safely use this format again in the future, but we are also considering different formats. Group/Knockout: We felt the tournament style was fun with the initial group stages followed by the knockouts. We will likely use this format again as it gives clans more time to actually play in the tournament during the group stages. What could be improved Format: We opted for a referee based format with someone calling the match in real time. Unfortunately, we did not have time to implement better features like real-time death counting, on screen counter display, etc. While we did a good job refereeing, ultimately the process is error prone due to the fast nature of deaths, revives, etc. within the game. For example, in the infamous Envy vs. AbonFoundation match we did miscount one of the fights. While the "ruling on the field" format with referees was okay for this event, in the future we will be investing in having more automated systems. Communication: For the clan leaders involved behind the scenes we often had confusing/conflicting communication leading up to the event. Changing rules last minute, allowing subs off-roster, then reversing that decision, etc. Moving forward we will be more organized in our communication to avoid any confusion with clan leaders. Schedule: The first weekend we did not create and publish a schedule for the group stage matches. Unfortunately, this penalized players who made themselves available all day to participate in group stage matches, but then did not get a chance to play. In the future, we will be posting official match times for all matches and will be strict about clans being available for their scheduled times. This will also allow people to adjust their schedules accordingly. Re-schedule: Due to some issues internally we had to re-schedule the original CvC to different dates. Unfortunately this was due to unforeseen circumstances and we hope to avoid this from here on out. We regret all the disruptions it caused for players who had already made accommodations in their schedules. Spectators: Regarding future events we would like players to be able to spectate the matches in game. Additionally, it's clear that spectating ROSE PvP in general is hard. Animations for skills are re-used, the visual feedback makes it hard to know what was being cast, what state players are in etc. We'd like to explore improvements in this area in the future. Conclusion In the end the Clan vs. Clan event was a success from our side but there is definitely room for improvement. As a team, we already made huge strides from the first weekend to the second. We hope to host another one in the winter incorporating all the lessons we've learned and with some new exciting systems implemented. Additionally, we took a lot of notes from the event and will be working on tweaking classes over the next months based on what we observed and player feedback.   3. Hello all, We're happy to share our latest update, checkout the details below! Clan vs. Clan Rewards A few weeks ago we held our Clan vs. Clan Tournament and thanks to all the clans that participated! Since then we've been preparing the clan rewards for the teams. The final standings were: 1st Place: GodLy 2nd Place: Aura 3rd Place: Vanguard As the winners of the event, GodLy clan will be receiving a custom outfit with their clan insignia incorporated: As a bonus for winning first place, some special decorations were added around and in training grounds so GodLy can flex their title for a few weeks! Additionally, as a thank you to all clans that participated we will be providing a participation costume to all the remaining clans: We will be coordinating with all the clan masters from various clans to distribute these rewards! Finally, we wrote up a small "retrospective" post regarding the clan vs. clan event, how it went and what we want to change for the next one. If you are interested please read here: Prison Riot The prisoners in Sikuku Underground Prison have started to riot. They have broken out of their cells and their numbers in the main rooms have increased! Outnumbered, the Sikuku Infiltrators have fled the main room areas and are regrouping to protect the Queen. The spawns in Sikuku Underground Prison have been adjusted. We increased the density of the spawns and removed Infiltrators from the first few rooms. Prison is an iconic map but the last iteration felt like a departure from the original design of this map. We hope this will now serve as a fun leveling alternative to Sikuku Ruins with compelling new drops and a good flow of chemicals. Unique Skill Reset At long last it is now possible to reset unique skills individually. When using the unique skill reset there is a new UI flow which allows the player to select which skill they want to reset. The player will then be reimbursed for the skill points for that skill only. Remember, when a Unique Skill is reset, the skill points are returned but the skill book itself disappears and will have to be obtained again if you decide to add the skill back in the future. 2023-08-24-10-06-30-capture.mp4 Level 200 Accessories We have added some new accessories to the game and drop tables. This jewelry was originally found in the Orlean Royal Family Tombs but was stolen by thieves! Some of these miscreants were caught and sent to prison but the jewelry was never recovered while others still roam free on Orlo to this day... Level 240 Accessories The level 240 accessories are currently extremely rare and only drop on a few mobs that are easily camped or timed. We have added these accessories to the drop tables of the bosses of a few dungeons albeit with a very very low drop chance! Prismatic Adjustments Prismatic Dust/Fiber/Lattice are critical materials for crafting grade 8/9/10 gems, however in the old drop tables they were incredibly hard to get. We have made some adjustments to make these more accessible and more fun to farm. Prismatic Dust: Lowered the drop tier for all existing monsters that drop Dust Prismatic Fiber: Removed from all mobs currently dropping Fiber and added as a drop to various kings on Eldeon and Orlo Prismatic Lattice: Lowered the drop tier for all existing monsters that drop Lattice Venurune & Plutorune We have added Venurunes to the Honor Shop (200 points) and Plutorunes (400 points) to the Valor Shop. Venurunes can be used to increase the success chance when refining an item by +10% for each Venurune used. A maximum of 2 Venurunes may be used at once. Plutorunes can be used to protect your item from degrading if the refine fails.   4. Some ISPs block the updater website. This is a known issue in places like Turkey but we know other ISPs also block it. Unfortunately the only way around it currently is to use a VPN to patch and then connect. Sorry for the inconvenience.
  5. Hello, there seems to be some issues with friends list after this update. We are actively looking into the issue. You may experience disconnects when messaging another player using the private message functionality from the friends list.

This patch includes some changes that had to be rolled back previously, we are re-applying them with some fixes: Reverting to back First Hit Recently, we made some changes to the drop system and based on player feedback and wider testing, we have decided to revert these changes back to the simpler first hit mechanic. Now to claim a drop, the first player who hits the monster will get the drop when it dies. Here are the full rules for claiming ownership of the drop: The player must be the first hit on the monster If the player has not hit the monster for 5 minutes, then drop ownership will be given to the next player If the player is not within 60m of the monster when it dies, then they will not be the drop owner Changes UI Updated character select screen to new UI system Gameplay Changed mob drop ownership to be exclusively based on first hit Added a distance check to mob ownership A player must be near a mob when it dies to be the owner of the drop Added a system to automatically reset skills for players with excess skill points This situation is extremely unlikely, but a previously rollback left some players with extra skill points and/or skills Disabled walking when riding a mount Misc Fixed a bug where a player could still see another player's online status even if they were removed from their friends list or never accepted their friend request (stalking bug Fixed a bug where disconnecting during character select would break the login UI Fixed a bug where players could open a shop too close to an NPC

  8. We use RMLUI 5.1 with the freetype and lua modules enabled. We'll upgrade to rmlui6 once it's released, there's some nice features there we want. The UI is updated and rendered every frame although we haven't implemented any animations yet so there might be some configuration settings missing from our end that is causing weird behavior.
  9. Wow. You're actually trying this! If you accomplish this it might be the most hardcore ROSE Online run ever. Have you considered streaming it just so we can track your progress? If you complete this run we'll have to consider some kind of prize, no joke.
  10. Yes, we have issued over 110 bans (temporary & permanent) in July independent of the past zuliepocalypse ban wave. We appreciate and do look at all ban reports we receive on top of the bans we do through our own in-game enforcement. Sometimes there can be a delay between when we receive a report and when the ban goes into effect due to our internal processes.

  18. Zuliepocalypse As a team, we recognize the utmost importance of maintaining a healthy and enjoyable in-game economy. Over the past few weeks, we have observed a significant surge in zulie within the game, accompanied by a higher frequency of real-money transactions (RMT). A few weeks after starting our investigation our findings were corroborated by player reports indicating rapid price increases and increased activity in RMT groups. To address this concerning situation, our team launched an extensive investigation. After investing numerous hours in log analysis and testing, we successfully identified the root cause of the issue. It appears that a small group of players exploited a vulnerable quest, repeatedly completing it to receive a small amount of zulie as a reward. By utilizing automation software, they were able to continuously carry out these actions 24/7, accumulating a substantial quantity of zulie. Subsequently, they engaged in real-money transactions by selling the amassed zulie to other players. These players attempted to hide their activities but thanks to our extensive logging we were able to track all the associated accounts. In response, we have identified and taken the following action: 37 accounts connected to this group were permanently banned 325 accounts that bought exploited zulies received a 1 month ban and a full zulie wipe Although this removal of zulie from the game is significant due to the banned accounts, a considerable portion of it has already circulated through the economy via normal gameplay activities such as trading and vending. Considering the nature of this situation, we have made the decision to implement a devaluation of zulie. This action aims to address the saturation of illegitimate zulie in the markets. We understand the impact this may have on players, and we assure you that this measure is being taken to restore balance and ensure a fair gameplay environment for everyone involved. In order to address the issue at hand, we have taken measures to reduce the zulie balances on a per account basis. The extent of adjustment varied depending on the specific account. On the higher end, some accounts had their zulie adjusted by a factor of 10, meaning their balances were divided by 10. On the lower end, however, the zulie balances remained relatively unchanged. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work towards rectifying this issue. This situation demanded a lot of resources from the team and slowed own our progress on content development these past few weeks. However, our commitment remains steadfast in providing an engaging and enjoyable gaming experience while upholding the integrity of the in-game economy. We understand for some players this may be a setback, to compensate for this we will be enabling a special Fairy Event for the next 7 days. Luna and Eldeon EXP We have listened to your feedback and identified that Luna and Eldeon required attention to make them more rewarding and engaging. We are happy to announce that we have made significant adjustments to the experience (EXP) rates in these zones, aiming to provide a more meaningful and enjoyable progression journey. We have increased the EXP rates in Luna by 40% for all mobs, and by 20% for all mobs on Eldeon. Without the inclusion of previous pay-to-win elements, the EXP rewards in these areas were not substantial enough to make them significant progression zones. This resulted in a monotonous and tedious leveling experience, often requiring players to resort to repetitive quests and other boring activities to advance meaningfully. With the new EXP rates we hope that grinding through these zones will be more fun and more interesting to explore. We hope to continue iterating in this vein to make the experience on these planets even richer and to make progression as fun as it can be! Mounts You have been asking for mounts and we have heard you loud and clear! Firstly, we fixed a long outstanding issue where the Queen Kera would drop a Bone Spider mount. Now Queen Kera will drop the Kera's Pet mount and the Bone Spider King will drop the Bone Spider Mount. Additionally, we have added 4 mounts to the drop tables in Luna that were previously only ever available from the item mall. Which mounts and who drops them? Well that is up to you to find out! Finally, for our game arena enthusiasts we have added the following mounts to the honor shop: Black Chicken Mount (5,000 Honor) Armored Antares Mount (10,000 Honor) and the following mounts to the valor shop: White Chicken Mount (5,000 Valor) Antares Mount (10,000 Valor) Wings of the Fallen Astarot While we love the Diamond 10 meme, it was a mistake on our part to not consider the drop rate around Prismatic Fibers and Prismatic Lattice when requiring a grade 10 gem. While having very difficult item to craft is fun, crafting grade 10 gem is practically impossible with the current success rate and rate of material drops. While we still want the wings to be challenging, we don't want them to be unreachable for most end game players so we changed the requirement from 1 Diamond 10 to 4 Diamond 8's. We also made adjustments to the spiritual stone requirement and updated the recipe of the Wings of the Risen Phoenix so that these items stay aligned. We are reviewing the overall requirements for crafting grade 10 gems. Additionally, we will adjust Fibers and Lattices drop rate accordingly in future patches. Clan points and Clan Skills The current clan skill system was designed when clans could accommodate up to 400 players, since then we have reduced the limit to 100 characters. Additionally, the previous design relied on the fact that players could buy Clan Points from the item mall to supplement their in game farming activities. Since we are committed to not enabling pay-to-win mechanics, Clan Points are no longer available on the item mall. As a result, clans struggle to even farm one or two temporary skill each month. Our change aims to make it so that achieving these skills are less of a chore and more a fun achievement for the group. Additionally we want to allow more clans to have a change to unlock some of these skills. One thing that is clear is that the drop rate clan skills (especially the higher tier ones such as the Epic or Legendary drop rate skills) are too powerful in their current form. We're actively working on adjusting PVE farming zones and drop table in order to diversity the farming experience in all zones. However the huge boost in rates from these clan skills makes it very challenging to create balanced gameplay and rewards large clans disproportionately to small clans. As such, we have decided to take the following actions: Divide the cost of ALL temporary skills by 4 (ex: Legendary clan drop rate 300m --> 75m) Divide the power of ALL temporary skills by 4 (ex: Legendary clan drop rate 2.5% --> .5%) Increase Clan point generation from ALL monster by 30% Clans who purchased these skills at the old prices will have the skills removed and will be reimbursed the original costs. New UI System We are thrilled to announce a significant enhancement coming to ROSE Online! Our team has been hard at work, and we are excited to share that we are transitioning our user interface (UI) system from a legacy solution to a cutting-edge technology based on HTML/CSS. This transition opens up a world of possibilities, empowering us to rapidly build and iterate on both existing and new interfaces. By leveraging HTML/CSS, we gain new flexibility, efficiency, and a plethora of advanced features to elevate your gameplay to new heights. Here's what you can look forward to with the UI update: Lightning-Fast Development: The adoption of HTML/CSS technology allows us to expedite the creation and implementation of UI elements. This means that new features, optimizations, and improvements can be rolled out faster than ever before, ensuring a more dynamic and immersive gaming experience. Advanced Feature Set: The modern technology stack enables us to introduce exciting features that were previously unattainable such as UI scaling support on high resolution displays, custom font loading, emojis, animations and more. Unleash Your Creativity: We believe that customization is key to enhancing player immersion. With the new UI system, we are empowering you to fully personalize your user interface. Content Development Over the past few months, we have made significant progress in addressing various technical challenges that were affecting the game. As a result, we are delighted to announce that our team has undergone a strategic reorganization, with a renewed focus on content development to bring you more exciting gameplay experiences. Previously, our primary focus was on resolving intricate technical issues such as stability and tackling potential exploits. These endeavors required significant time and resources to ensure a solid foundation for the game's future. We are pleased to inform you that we have successfully completed a substantial portion of this technical work, allowing us to start shifting our focus towards what truly matters: delivering captivating content for your enjoyment. With our restructured team, we are now better equipped to work with increased efficiency and speed on content development.   20. All, the partial rollback was not fully successful. We will need to apply another rollback just for skills and passives. We will do this quickly in 45-60minutes which will also require a quick server restart. Thanks all.
