Has anyone else noticed that Sorcery Mastery does not stack? I have never seen an icon of the passive skill on my screen identifying that my sorcery spells have stacked like Fire Mastery and Wind Mastery do. Also, what is your opinion on Valkyrie Chant vs Mental Focus skills? Is it worth the skill points I don't see my stats change when I use these skills to enhance my damage.

Mental Focus and Valkyrie don't increase attack or spell power they "enhance damage" which I don't think you can see from your character page. Despite this I do think they work. Personally I have mental focus but not Valkyrie because it's a self buff and in groups you should have a cleric anyway and they always pick up Valkyrie.

  2. Since you said you hoped I would remember I made myself do so! Without further a do... This is my terrible mage's stats. I have to say his gear isn't good and defo a work in progress ( need some more scrolls apart from anything).

I'm tinkering with the stats still, I figure some SEN might be worth while but I' m not sure. Some CHA might benefit me due to fire dots but I'll keep tinkering. This is completely unbuffed (not even self buffs, not that those affect my ATK power on my mage).

I'm a bit confused now with the last 2 posts. Doesn't a mage need much sen for critical dmg?

Would be good if some more suggestions on stats could be included in this guide.

I wish I could say what is best mate. I think I got my build from the old Warportal forums. It's possible that SEN might be good but I've not tried it. I've tried to get as much ATK power as I can.

It's important to note that DPS on a mage is different. We don't have an auto attack so our damage comes only from our spells. My thoughts are Mage is about AOE so more attack is more AOE damage. I'm not sure if trading power for crit will be worth it? I mean you'd need quite a bit of SEN to make any noticeable difference. It's possible CHA might be more effective for a fire mage to increase your DOT damage but again I've not really tried this.

In my opinion so long as you have maxed INT because of the affect on your damage and mana pool, increasing the effectiveness of your mana shield and have enough CON so that you hit reliably then your good. The rest is just minor variations.

I'd love to hear what's working for everyone else!

  4. Thankyou very much for taking the time to format and present this information for us sir!

I just finished leveling a mage to level 250 this week and it's been a blast.

I can't wait to see your ideas on builds. I'm currently running 2:1 INT and STR with about 120 CON for extra accuracy.

I started with wind which I love and is definitely my favourite style wise. However people want pure AOE and I found fire to be a tad better in groups.

I might also add my PT members got annoyed by all the bugged mobs i produced as wind. It seems that one of winds AOE skills has a chance to stun which causes the mobs to bug (if a mob dies when stunned it just stands there with no HP).

I hadn't played mage in previous versions of Rose having started as a champ and then mostly mained a cleric with scout alts. Im definitely converted to mage now!

Hey, just bumping this up because I updated the entire first post. I'm level 135 now, so lots of new stuff to share.

    I love your guide sir!

I'm following it a tad but making my own adjustments. My adjustments preserve as much of the DPS as possible whilst taking a few support points (bons and heals). I prefer to play more of a hybrid. I can do similar damage but I can save my friends and throw out bons for people. I think playing cleric without any support spells is such a shame because we're the only class with most of these types of spells.

For example (as far as I can see) the bons regen is a flat % not affected by any stats. Your throwing away the ability to literally regen your whole party's HP and MP at a rate of 6% (if I'm not mistaken) every 10 seconds. Just to have those awful sword summons. In my opinion we can pump out DPS, even lure and still offer tons of support. It's our greatest strength.

I love your build and I'm having tons of fun with it.

    Kindest regards.

They just ruined the Muse/Cleric Job Class. Period. 🙂

I don't think we're ruined. Firstly try leveling in an AOE group without a support muse/cleric. We're very much in demand. Additionally my battle cleric style muse packs quite a punch and has massive self sustain. Im enjoying what Rednim have done despite being quite apprehensive about it.

From what I've gleaned, @darthtomskiis correct. Enough INT for your Wand and the rest into CHA for the buff and heal boost. As far as your skills, I'd say you want anything for MP management to keep your sustain up during heals, you need all your heals leveled up, and you'll be utilizing your bonfires quite a bit and later on as a Cleric you'll be using flames.

Thanks mate, feels better knowing I'm on the right track ^_^

  8. I'm leveling a support cleric, I'm not entirely sure but I think CHA is more important than INT. I was thinking as much INT as I need for my weapon then dump the rest into CHA but you do need some INT for your mana pool. I'm not sure if my idea would leave you without enough mana, I'll let you know when I finish my character;)

  9. Just wishing everyone a happy holidays period!

We've all waited a long time for Rose to return and I just wanted to thank all the developers and community moderators for your hard work in bringing this old and priceless game back to us!

Back when I was a teenager a friend introduced me to this game at college. There wasn't a euro version yet and he was learning Japanese whilst playing it. I showed my brother and he loved the art style and carts. When the euro version launched my brother was there and for some reason this game resonated with him. I couldn't get him to play other MMOs as much as I did try (I wasn't a big rose fan at the time). Over the years I've played with my brother just to play his game with him and now I can say I have an affinity to this game as its something I could play with my brother.

Well Rose is back and I've been playing it with my brother (we're both now in our 30's). So thankyou Rednim from me and my brother.

Long live Rose Online and the somewhat odd community which this game seems to have created around it's self. I love you all!

  10. I don't know if this has been discussed before but I just wanted to put forward a suggestion for adding a server health or status page as some other games have.

It could include a feed for dev announcements relating to server status along with the health or status of the character, world and login servers and maybe additional channels.

Also, thank-you very much Devs for all the hard work in bringing Rose Online back for the fans!

Honest comments you shall have. (I apologize for the length of this post.)

I am an unusual case of a dual cleric/artisan main. For reasons, I didn't party on my artisan until reaching the higher levels and spent 2 years in the same map at level 50. In that same period of time, I played on my fs cleric and partied with clan members and randoms. I enjoyed the largesse of compassionate and charitable people who gave me max-stat gear. I paid that forward later after the Draconis/Leonis merger that caused my clan's death, buffing masses of random noobs at Kenji Beach back when the server population was high. I think one day I easily buffed 150 people; it's a memory I'll always come back to. Only after I achieved a good measure of personal toughness did I start working on my battlecleric, mage and speardancer. I made a knight purely for the looks. On my artisan I was socially averse and preferred to level alone and live off the land, but my cleric was literally named to party. And yes, I too enjoyed the high of buffing noobs into demigods. For these reasons, I feel I am qualified to speak on this matter.

I was never a buff 'slave'. Cleric was never an alt for me. Even on the rare occasions where I was leveling two characters at the same time, my cleric was never an afterthought. That said, I always felt annoyed at my lackluster combat abilities and was pleased when abilities like Cleric's Intensity/Wand Weaving at least made me feel like I wasn't just a balloon hitting with a pool noodle and protected by a sponge. In the end, I realized that the problem lay in an overdeveloped focus on my healing subtree. The heals were numerous and, thanks to the updates, had become interesting and benefited from strategic use. But aside from this, all I had was some minor support for my auto-attack and mana shield, and the addition of an all-stat buff.  My skillset was unremarkable. Uninspiring. And when we come back in about a week's time, my cleric's skillset will still be uninspiring and unremarkable. Boring. Mortal. I'm going to abuse all-caps here for emphasis and clarity:

YOU DON'T NEED TO BE A MAGE TO WIELD THE POWER OF A GOD

Clerics are not shabby versions of mages. Clerics, in fact, should be unique and better than mages as they naturally wield divine power, yet their skillset doesn't reflect this. On this very forum suggestions have been made to spice up the cleric skillset so people will play clerics actively. Isn't that what this is all about? That some players are natural clerics and actively play their character, whereas others min-max by using the long duration of buffs and flames combined with multiboxing so they can focus on leveling their champ/mage/other? If you want people to main cleric, make clerics great. Give them skills that are literally unique to them, skills beyond the ken of iRose players, things they couldn't even have dreamt of. I don't mind releasing with the current skillset or the late NARose skillset AS LONG AS THE CLERIC REVAMP IS TAKEN SERIOUSLY. Make the skillset such that players, even if they're not of a clerical mindset, will naturally play actively on their cleric. Make it so parties naturally WANT to have clerics with them, that clerics become an exciting bonus. This buff conversation is a distraction from what is sorely lacking and has been for years.

TL;DR - Clerics need a makeover and buffs are only part of the equation.

    /agreed ❤️

I love this post. This is my concern but also my hope. I enjoyed buffing but I'm looking forward to changes. So long as they make the cleric good I'll be happy. I also played cleric as a main and never did the afk or even the multi box thing. Lets hope the changes amount to more than "here you guys, we've stripped the cleric of buffs. Enjoy!". The cleric was already in need of new tools to make it fun. Just removing what we had will just plain suck for those who enjoy actively being a cleric.

  12. I'm willing to give the changes a chance despite generally enjoying the cleric as it was (I played as a cleric main). I hope they've given the cleric something else because if we've just been stripped of our main purpose and no further adjustments have been made then this change will destroy the class. I'm also not 100% sure this change won't just make all classes buff slaves in a sense. I can easily imagine min-maxers having one of each class to get all the buffs as before but we wont know for sure until we're all trying them out.

It seems to me Rednim have demonstrated willingness to revert changes or change course when it seems necessary which gives me faith they will do what needs to be done for the good of the whole game.

I'm hoping the changes work out well and I will see you all on launch day to find out 🙂
