lazypenguin Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Hello all, This week has been a poignant moment for long-time ROSE Online fans, as we bid farewell to ROSE Online Japan. Last month, the Japan team announced that the game would no longer continue operating, and this week marked its official shutdown. For nearly 19 years, they built a remarkable legacy—pushing the game to new heights and bringing a unique, creative vision to ROSE that no other team could match. Howevers it’s not all sad news! We’re excited to share that we’ve been able to connect with the ROSE Japan team and secure a deal to continue their incredible legacy. In early January, we shared this exciting update with our Ko-Fi supporters, and now, we’re thrilled to bring it to you as well: Quote Hello Supporters! We’re here today with bittersweet news that marks both the end of an era and the beginning of something truly exciting. As many of you may have already heard, ROSE Online Japan (jROSE) has officially announced the shutdown of its servers. For years, jROSE has been a cornerstone of creativity and innovation in the ROSE Online universe, carrying forward the game’s legacy with passion and dedication. It’s always tough to say goodbye, especially to a version of the game that has held such a unique and mysterious allure for so many players. But we’re thrilled to announce that this story doesn’t end here. In fact, it’s just getting started. Rednim Games has officially acquired the assets of ROSE Online Japan – ensuring that its legacy, and all of the amazing content it represents, lives on! Honoring jROSE: A Look Back To truly appreciate what this means, let’s take a step back and reflect on jROSE’s place in the game’s history. ROSE Online began its journey in Korea in the early 2000s as a groundbreaking MMORPG. Its success quickly spread, giving rise to versions like the legendary “iROSE” (International ROSE), which holds a nostalgic place in the hearts of countless fans. However, as time marched on, publishers shifted focus to a regional model, introducing localized versions like kROSE, twROSE, jROSE, NaROSE, and euROSE. Over the years, many of these servers came and went – a natural consequence of the immense challenge of launching and maintaining an MMORPG. Yet through it all, jROSE remained a vibrant, enduring force. Its developers in Japan poured years of effort into expanding the game, introducing breathtaking new art, new creatures, new maps, and even an entire new planet – Karkia. For fans worldwide, jROSE became almost mythical. It was a world of rich, exclusive content tucked away behind Japanese-language barriers – a treasure trove of beauty and innovation that many could only glimpse through shared screenshots and videos. When jROSE’s shutdown was announced, it struck a deep chord. Losing that content felt like losing a piece of ROSE Online itself – a part of its soul. But we couldn’t let that happen. A Shared Vision: From NaROSE to the Future When we at Rednim Games licensed NaROSE in 2021, we were driven by a bold and ambitious vision: to breathe new life into ROSE Online, not just as a revival, but as a foundation for something greater. Over the past two years – and thanks to your unwavering support – we’ve worked tirelessly to modernize and expand the game: new features, new systems, and new dreams of what ROSE Online can become. But we always knew that this journey was about more than just our efforts. It was about uniting the best of ROSE’s legacy, honoring the incredible work that came before us, and building the ultimate version of this beloved game. That’s why, the moment we learned of jROSE’s planned shutdown, we immediately reached out to their team. We knew we had to preserve their extraordinary legacy – not just for ourselves, but for the entire ROSE Online community. We are overjoyed to confirm that Rednim Games has officially acquired the assets of ROSE Online Japan. This is a huge moment – one that opens up an incredible new chapter for the game. By integrating jROSE’s content into NaROSE, we’re bringing together the best of both worlds. What does this mean? New Items – A vast collection of unique gear, costumes, and weapons. New Vehicles – Exciting new ways to traverse the ROSE universe. New Maps and Planets – Including the fabled Karkia, the 5th planet developed by jROSE. New Opportunities for Growth – A treasure trove of assets and data to inspire future expansions and updates. We’re not just preserving jROSE’s work – we’re celebrating it and making it part of the game’s bright future. This acquisition allows us to craft an epic, unified version of ROSE Online, one that combines nostalgia, innovation, and boundless potential. The Journey Ahead As we finalize this acquisition and begin the integration process, we’ll be sharing more details with you about what’s to come. Rest assured: we’re committed to honoring jROSE’s incredible contributions and ensuring their legacy lives on for years to come. This is more than just an update. It’s a promise. A promise to build the ROSE Online you’ve always dreamed of, to push the boundaries of what’s possible, and to celebrate the community that’s made this all worthwhile. Thank you for being part of this journey. The road ahead is brighter than ever, and we can’t wait to share it with you. Together, let’s make ROSE Online better than it’s ever been. We're excited to share that since our last update, we have finalized the deal and started the extensive process of integrating the data into our game client. Over the next few months, you'll start to see new elements added to the game as we bring Japan's incredible creative work to life. We've already started incorporating new costumes for the Item Mall, fresh hair and face styles, as well as new carts and castle gears. However, that's just the beginning! There's never been clearer and exciting path forward for grand new advancements such as new dungeons, new zones, and most importantly, NEW PLANETS! We couldn’t be more thrilled about the future, and we can't wait to embark on this journey with you. 2025 is shaping up to be an explosive year—get ready! 16 4
