Today we're sneaking final patch for the year (or maybe the first patch of the year depending on where you live!). The patch is primarily to prepare for some BRAND NEW Item Mall items to be released tomorrow and fix a bug with male lavender hair. However, we're excited to also release an overhaul of the in game chat feature! New Chat The chat box was completely redesigned from the ground up and migrated to our new UI system. It's packed with a bunch of new features and is much more customizable (in the future we will release a guide on how to customize all the new UI components once all our UI has been ported over). Item Linking It's now possible to link your items directly into the chat window making it easier to facilitate conversations, negotiate deals and more! Linked items will show all the expected details including refine level, durability, sub stat, gem and other details for other players to see. We anticipate this to be very useful for our mercantile players who love buying and selling their rare items. However, new players will also benefit as many items can be linked including quest items. To link your item in chat, simply hold shift and right click the item. 2024-12-31-19-31-50-capture.mp4 Chat Shortcuts For a long time ROSE has used a symbol to send messages to different chats. The new chat is "modal" and instead of using a symbol you switch the current mode to the input type you want. This can be accomplished by typing a special slash command and then pressing spacebar. Here are the commands with their shortcuts and a demonstration of how it works! /say (/chat or /s) - Send a normal message /whisper (/w) - Send a whisper /shout (/sh) - Send a shout /party (/p) - Send a party message /group (/g) - Send a group message /clan (/c) - Send a clan message /trade (/t) - Send a trade message Alternatively, the dropdown next to the chatbox can be used to switch chatting mode. 2024-12-31-19-13-05-capture.mp4 Click to whisper 2024-12-31-19-10-40-capture.mp4 Tired of having to retype a player's name every time you want to whisper them and they're not nearby? Now clicking a player's name in the chat will automatically switch to the whisper view to make it convenient to privately communicate with anyone. No more stress when trying to buy items from player II11LL11LI! More languages With the chat upgrades we now have better support for more languages including Japanese and Korean! We currently do not support right-to-left languages and other more complex languages. Chat now also has support for basic emojis! Press the Windows Key + . to bring up the windows emoji UI. Tab customization By default we include the usual 6 tabs as we all know them, however this experience is completely customizable. Want a tab that shows group, trade and party chat combined? Want to see system messages in your chat? Hate tabs and want everything on all without a system box? All this is possible and more in the new chat options in the options window! Take a look at customize to your hearts content. (NOTE: It's also possible to update the font, colors, layout and more by editing the UI files. We will share an official guide on how to do this at a later time). We've also included more refined options for chat bubbles. Window Resizing 2024-12-31-18-06-51-capture.mp4 It's a small enhancement but a very useful one, the chat window can now be dynamically resized! Currently the size is not saved between game sessions. However, it's possible to mod the UI to permanently adjust the default size and position. We will share this information with our modding community! lazypenguin Posted January 1 Author Posted January 1 Hello! If you have any issues with the new chat ui it's possible to revert to the old one just follow these steps. Open the configuration folder by opening file explorer and typing "%APPDATA%/Rednim Games/ROSE Online" Look for a file called `rose.toml`, it's possible that it appears just as `rose` in you don't have file extensions enabled Look for the "use_new_chat_box" setting. Set it to false if you want to disable it or true to enable it 1
