Ongemakje Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 (edited) So you want to run Rose on a Macbook in 2025! I ran into this problem last week on my Macbook m1, so I consolidated all the steps you will need to take below from others who came before me who tried and succeeded. For this guide I will assume you have some computer/mac knowledge and will not detail every step beyond what is needed to get it running. The process will take about 15-20 minutes. Installation: Steps: Install Whiskey (think of this as a program that can run .exe files) https://getwhisky.app/ Open whiskey and create a new “Bottle” based on windows 10, name it whatever you fancy. Download Rose: https://roseonlinegame.com/download Move the downloaded file from ~/Downloads to ~/Library/Containers/Whiskey/Bottles/[FANCYBOTTLENAME_id] you can access this folder easily from Whiskey by clicking the “Open Drive button”. Drop it anywhere in there where you can find it again. Press the “Pin program button” and select the RoseOnlineSetup.exe file to pin it. Double click the RoseOnlineSetup to run and install Rose on the bottle like you are used to from a winPC, make sure to install for all users. Install homebrew on your mac, this is a tool that can install other content via command line like an app store. You can read how to do it here https://brew.sh/ or open up your terminal (command+space and type terminal) copy and paste the below and press enter. Let it run. /bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/HEAD/install.sh)" Then run the command brew tap snyke7/swamp-rose-brew https://github.com/snyke7/swamp-rose-updater && brew install --cask --no-quarantine swamp_rose_updater This will install snyke7’s swamp_rose_updater (source below) Once installed you can find a program called swamp_rose_updater in your mac’s Applications folder. Run swamp_rose_updater, it will ask for the folder where you installed Rose, select the folder. Let it run until you see “Rose Online is up to date”. In Whiskey you can unpin the RoseOnlineSetup pinned program, and add the trose.exe as a pinned program. Give it a fancy name as before. Just one more thing to get it to work! Right click to bring up the context menu and select config and add the following line in the arguments: --init --server connect.roseonlinegame.com Click the < button to save it. Time to play! You know what to do! Updating: When you see an error ingame, version mismatch etc. It is a sign you are out of date with the client. You can confirm this on the website/discord to see if there has been an update. Fix this by following these steps: Run swamp_rose_updater again. done. play. Troubleshooting; I’ll try to update this post with new fixes when they arise. Please note that I have not tried this on a intel based mac. I’m sure someone will have problems with this guide and can’t get it to work. Just ask here and I’ll do my best to help, or tag me on discord: sources / major thanks to: @SWFjoda https://forum.roseonlinegame.com/topic/5905-finally-got-it-working-on-my-mac-m1pro/ @snyke7 https://forum.roseonlinegame.com/topic/3908-tool-install-update-rose-online-on-linux-update-rose-online-on-macos/ I’m sure I missed someone, the above information was really good, but not complete anymore and some information was lost in conversation. Hence the guide Edited December 16, 2024 by Ongemakje 1 2
