Patch Notes - 2024-10-31 (Orlo Clan Field Temple)

Hello all,

We're excited to deploy our latest patch with a brand new map in OCF and a new boss! Clans will have to compete once a week for an exclusive, timed reward from this boss. We've also included a number of fixes and an exciting change to the AI in Cave of Ulverick as a precursor to some upcoming dungeon work. Read below for more details!

 


Orlo Clan Field Temple

This update includes a new map in Orlo Clan Fields - OCF Temple! A special area only accessible to the strongest clans once a week. Every Saturday, a portal will appear at the entrance to the temple that will be open for a limited amount of time. Clans will have to compete to make it into the temple and gain control before the portal closes! Make sure to bring your best clerics because if you die in the temple and the portal is closed you will not be able to respawn inside.

The portal will appear at the entrance in Orlo Clan Fields when the timer countdown has completed. To support our community of players around the world the portal will open at different times every week to make it fair for all time zones. Make sure to come check the entrance ahead of time to plan accordingly!

Only the strongest clans will be able to defeat the Scarab God - Kepris and his legion of Black Scarabs. It's rumored that those who defeat him are rewarded with his vast treasures and his special ability to transform into the ferocious Black Scarab.

 


Cave of Ulverick - Boss AI

As part of this update we have completely reworked the AI of the bosses in Cave of Ulverick: Anansi Recluse, Arachne Recluse and Ulverick. Each of these monsters now have more of an "identity" in their attack pattern (e.g. casting skills faster or doing more damage, etc.) The skill and casting logic for each of them has been adjusted to be "smarter" to move away from the previous stun/taunt lock behavior. These bosses are a little less "brain dead" now so players will have to be more alert and tactical when fighting them!


 

Game Arena - Disconnect & Clan Point Rewards

The clan point rewards for monsters in all dungeons has been increased by 3x. We previously fixed a bug in dungeons causing players to get extra rewards when in a group but as a side-effect clan point drop rates were diminished in dungeons. We have increased the rewards by 3x to make dungeons a modest way to earn clan points and to encourage players to clear all the mobs!

Additionally, we enabled dungeon/game arena reconnect. If a player disconnects while in a game arena/dungeon game and they reconnect within 2 minutes of disconnecting, they will rejoin the game they were previously in. In the case of game arenas they will stay on the same team they were previously.

 


Teleport Scroll Icons

We have updated the icons for all teleport scrolls to make them easier to identify in inventory and shops! In addition to being color coded by planet, the icons will also show the name of the destination.

 


Scoreboard UI

We have updated the game arena scoreboard to our new UI system. This fixes a long standing issue after our graphics update where the column headers would overlap making them illegible. With this update some work was completed in the background to pave the path for dungeon scoreboards in the future!

 


Luna Clan Field Entrance

Previously to reach Luna Clan Fields you would need to speak to Est in Mana Snow Fields and she would teleport you in. After releasing Orlo Clan Fields we observed that since the entrance was in the City of Muris the city became more lively and vibrant with activity! Players were opening shops there or grouping before heading into the fight. In order to bring the same effect to Eucar we've moved the entrance/exit of Luna Clan Field! To enter you can speak to Olleck Basilasi and navigate the familiar dialogs to enter. When exiting LCF you will be teleported to Eucar as well.

We also made some small adjustments such as changing the respawn location and teleport scroll location of Eucar to the upper area of Eucar.

 


Summon Healing Cap

We have added a healing cap for summons that perform % of max health healing which primarily impacts Bonfires and Salamander Flames. These summons still work as the previously did healing players for a % of health every tick, however for characters with large health pools the amount of healing they receive will be capped regardless of how high their maximum HP is.

The goal of this change is to balance out the strength of healing in PvM or PvP situations. While players can use items to increase their maximum HP, monster/player damage does not scale the same way making salamanders very powerful on players with big HP pools. As always, please share your feedback as you play the game with this change so we can make any adjustments that are needed!

 


Orlo Drops

Previously, we implemented a new system for drops in Orlo Clan Fields and Fossil Sanctuary. The feedback has been positive that these maps drop significantly less "trash" drops than other areas making them a nice place to farm. We have now applied the same system to all the maps on Orlo.

Additionally, we have made some targeted fixes in Golden Ring to adjust the drop tables for Darkened Mobs

Thank you all for your patience with this update, the time between this one and the last was a bit longer than usual due to a number of factors. A lot of behind the scenes work happened to enable this new content that opens up the doors for even more exciting features to come (new NPC + tooling, script system improvements for OCF Temple, scoreboard upgrades, AI changes, etc.) We look forward to your feedback and can't wait to continue delivering fun and exciting content in the future!
