ROSE Online currently can natively be installed and played on Windows 10 & 11. However, ROSE Online is also available on MacOS/Linux & Steam Deck using various tools and compatibility layers. Please review the guide below for details on how to get ROSE Online installed on your operating system.

 

Install ROSE Online: Windows

ROSE Online is designed to run natively on Windows, there are no special requirements.

Step 1: Use Windows 10 or Newer

ROSE Online is only compatible with Windows 10 or newer. Unfortunately ROSE Online is not available for Windows 7 or 8.1. Additionally, we recommend to update your windows installation to the latest version for maximum compatibility. For example, Windows 10 version 22H2.

 

Step 2: Download and run installer

The ROSE Online installer is available on the website at https://www.roseonlinegame.com/download. Run the installer from your downloads directory which will start the installation wizard.

When prompted, select your desired installation mode. We recommend "Install for all users" for maximum compatibility. We only recommend "install for me only" when you do not have administrator privileges on your computer

 

Complete each step of the installation wizard selecting your preferences for installation directory and more. We recommend keeping the default options for most users. On the final page click "install" to complete installation of the game.

 

Step 3: Launch the game

The final step is to launch the game from the start menu by searching for "ROSE Online". This will start the updater which will update your installation with the latest game patches. Once the updater is complete press the "Play!" to start the game!

 

 

Install ROSE Online: MacOS

ROSE Online can be directly run on MacOS using crossover, a special utility for running Windows based software on MacOS. To use crossover the software needs to be manually installed and a valid license will need to be purchased from https://www.codeweavers.com/crossover. NOTE: If you are running a newer mac with an M1/M2/M3 chip please see the "MacOS (Arm)" instructions below

 

Step 1: Download and install crossover

1. Download, install and activate crossover from https://www.codeweavers.com/crossover
2. Download the following script and open the file, it should automatically launch crossover https://files.roseonlinegame.com/install/macos/ROSE Online.tie

 

Step 2: Install ROSE Online

A popup box will show asking you if you want to Load Intrusted CrossTie File, select Load/Yes

NOTE: This popup box appears because our installation has not been officially validated by CodeWeavers yet, in the future this step will not be necessary

Crossover will now prompt you to install ROSE Online in a new bottle called ROSE Online, click Install and wait patiently wait until ROSE Online is installed

 

Step 3: Launch the game

You should now find the ROSE Online application in crossover and also a shortcut in Launchpad.

Click on it to launch the updater for the client and wait until the play button is available

Click Play to start the game

 

Install ROSE Online: MacOS (Arm)

ROSE Online can be run on an ARM (M1/M2/M3) mac using the same instructions above for macOS. However, using whisky is an alternative if purchasing a crossover license is not possible.

1. Ensure you are using OSX 14.0 or newer
2. Install whisky https://getwhisky.app/
   1. This tool enables us to use non-ARM programs on our ARM CPU (i.e. Apple M1/M2/M3)
3. Install Steam https://store.steampowered.com/about
   1. Steam provides tools to run Windows based programs on MacOS (i.e. Proton)
4. Download the ROSE Online installer from https://www.roseonlinegame.com/download
5. Open Whisky and create a new bottle for windows 10, name it ROSEOnline
6. Install ROSE Online into the new bottle through Whisky
7. Launch Steam and sign in
8. In the games tab, select the "add non steam game" option and search for `rose-updater.exe`
9. Start the game!
